Te Tiriti o Waitangi Commitment
At Hands For Impact™ (HFI), we are proudly on a journey to embrace te ao Māori, honour Te Tiriti o Waitangi, and integrate tikanga Māori into our systems and practices. The principles of Te Tiriti are foundational to the mahi we undertake, guiding how we build relationships and deliver meaningful outcomes for both Tangata Whenua and Tangata Tiriti.
We are committed to being a strong Te Tiriti partner, and upholding the principles of Partnership, Protection, and Participation in every aspect of our work.
-
Partnership – We actively engage with Māori communities, iwi, and hapū to build respectful, collaborative relationships that reflect shared goals and aspirations.
-
Protection – We prioritise the protection of Māori rights, interests, and taonga. We recognise that mātauranga Māori is not only valuable but a sacred taonga that must be treated with care. Its use is a privilege that requires proper protection through thoughtful policies and agreements.
-
Participation – We create inclusive and equitable opportunities for Māori to participate fully in our services, projects, and decision-making processes.
To proactively honour Te Tiriti o Waitangi, we are committed to:
-
Exploring what a Te Tiriti-based future means for HFI, including a commitment to constantly improving how we conduct our mahi, to ensure our organisation is safe, inclusive, and supportive for tangata whenua.
-
Actively supporting our Team on their Te Tiriti journey through continuous learning, cultural capacity building, and engagement with experts in Mātauranga Māori.
-
We have developed internal policies and procedures that align with the principles of Māori Data Sovereignty.
We acknowledge that we are at the beginning of this journey, and the ways in which we honour Te Tiriti will continue to grow and develop with us as we continue to learn and embed Te Ao Māori perspectives throughout our mahi.
Titiro ki muri kia whakatika ā mua - Look to the past to proceed into the future
