Te Pūrongo Whakaaweawe o te Mahi Taiohi: Telling the Story of Youth Work through Social Return on Investment
In collaboration with Ara Taiohi, Hands for Impact are proud to launch our first sector-wide Social Return on Investment (SROI) report. Our analysis has found that for every $1 invested, youth work creates $12.69 in social value for young people, their whānau and communities across Aotearoa.
For the first time, this new research puts a dollar value on the social impact of youth work estimating it generates $1.72 billion in social value for young people, whānau and communities across Aotearoa over 12 months.

Rānui 135 SROI Report
A newly-assured Social Return on Investment (SROI) report has found that grassroots youth organisation Rānui 135 generates $4.86 in social value for every $1 invested, delivering measurable, long-term impact for taiohi (young people) aged 13–18 in West Tāmaki Makaurau (Auckland).
Conducted by Hands for Impact in partnership with Ara Taiohi, the report calculates a projected $13,564,709 in total social value over five years (2025–2030), based on an investment of $2,789,430.

Tararua Community Youth Services SROI Report
A new Social Return on Investment (SROI) report has found that Tararua Community Youth Services (TCYS) generates $11.65 in social value for every $1 invested, delivering measurable, long-term impact for taiohi (young people) aged 15–24 in Tāmaki-nui-a-Rua (Tararua District).
The independent analysis, conducted by Hands for Impact in partnership with Ara Taiohi, calculates a projected $6,895,858 in total social value over three years (2024–2027), based on an annual investment of $592,073.
